Finding Your North & Mooring

In life, we can face moments where we feel lost at sea—adrift on an uncertain journey with no land in sight. Moving without guidance can lead us further from land. For centuries sailors looked to the North Star for guidance. Not because it was the brightest, but because it was a constant. It remained fixed in an ever-changing sky. The North Star was not a destination, but an orientation. We refer to this source of orientation, both in our name, North & Mooring, and its symbol, stamped at the top of every Weathering Token. What is your internal North, your internal compass? Whatever it is, it is up to you to discover. Finding North is vital to navigation.

A mooring is where a vessel is secured to prevent drifting. We use it in our name, and it is the anchor stamped at the bottom of every Weathering Token. In times of rough seas, it is a necessary pause in the journey. When done purposefully, it allows for progress when the skies clear, when the chaos settles. Sitting still can be a useful strategy that requires patience. A time to stop drifting while waiting to find North. A deliberate act of stillness.

We see North & Mooring as a navigational strategy. While the concept of moving and pausing isn't difficult, remembering to ask which one a situation calls for can be. The Weathering Token is intended to be that reminder, to be asking the question, "Is this a moment for action or stillness?" Courage or acceptance? -and to seek the wisdom to know the difference.
